Newnham on Severn is a village in west Gloucestershire, England. It lies in the Royal Forest of Dean, on the west bank of the River Severn, approximately 10 miles south-west of Gloucester and three miles southeast of Cinderford. It is on the A48 road between Gloucester and Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales. The village has a parish council. A parish church was established in the 14th century , and in 1366 a new church building was built on the high ground of the village as the old one faced erosion from the river. The new building has itself been damaged by a gunpowder explosion in 1644 during the English Civil War and a fire in 1881, but is still in use....

Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England, 2 miles west of Amesbury. It consists of a ring of standing stones, with each standing stone around 13 feet high, 7 feet wide and weighing around 25 tons. The stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.Archaeologists believe it was constructed from 3000 BC to 2000 BC. The surrounding circular earth bank and ditch, which constitute the earliest phase of the monument, have been dated to about 3100 BC. Avebury is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles, around the village of Avebury in Wiltshire, in southwest England. One of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain, it contains the largest megalithic stone circle in the world. It is both a tourist attraction and a place of religious importance to contemporary pagans. Constructed over several hundred years in the Third Millennium BC, during the Neolithic, or New Stone Age, the monument comprises a large henge with a large outer stone circle and two separate smaller stone circles situated inside the centre of the monument. Drone footage shows surfers riding the Severn Bore

It's not Bondi Beach or Maui. Instead surfers from around the world braved chilly conditions of Newnham-on-Severn, in Gloucestershire to ride the river's Bore, on Friday. The Bore, which is a tidal phenomena that occurs in the lower reaches of the river, can been surging up the estuary carrying a slew of surfers. Hundreds of spectators are also seen lined along the riverbank to catch a glimpse of the first and only daytime five-star bore.

Tidal Bore on the River Lune September 2015

I was hoping to film the bore making its way past Glasson Dock. The bore was visible (binoculars or a high magnification video recorder) passing Sunderland Point in the distance, but it completely disappeared as it approached Glasson Dock. Lancaster city centre proved a much better viewing experience where the bore delighted spectators as it roared past St. George’s Quay. The Millennium Bridge provided a great location to film from.
