    The following is a list of fatal shark attacks which have taken place in Australia. The list is organised by state. It includes: attacks where the person was killed and their body recovered; attacks that were immediately fatal or almost immediately fatal; and attacks where the victim died from wounds sustained some days after the attack. Non-fatal shark attacks are not included in this list. Fatal shark attacks amount to about one quarter of shark attacks. This list does not include missing swimmers suspected to have suffered a shark attack.
