Flintshire is a principal area of Wales, known as a county. It was created by the Local Government Act 1994. It is in north-east Wales, bordering the English county of Cheshire to the east, Denbighshire to the west and Wrexham County Borough to the south. It is named after the historic county of Flintshire which has notably different borders. Flintshire is considered part of the Welsh Marches and formed part of the historic Earldom of Chester and Flint. The county is governed by Flintshire County Council. The largest town in the county is Connah's Quay, followed by Flint, Buckley and Mold.

    Theatr Clwyd , known from 1998 until 2015 as Clwyd Theatr Cymru, is a regional arts centre located 1 mile from Mold, Flintshire, in north-east Wales. The complex contains five auditoria: The Anthony Hopkins Theatre The Emlyn Williams Theatre Studio 2 The Clwyd Room Cinema .The complex forms part of the County Civic Centre at Mold , being immediately adjacent to the Shire Hall . It was built at the instigation of the former Flintshire County Council before it was abolished in the local government reorganisation of 1974 and replaced by Clwyd County Council, and the complex was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1976 under the artistic direction of George Roman.
