Riyadh is the capital and most populous city of Saudi Arabia, approximately 790 km North-east of Mecca. It is also the capital of Riyadh Province and belongs to the historical regions of Najd and Al-Yamama. It is situated in the centre of the Arabian Peninsula on a large plateau and home to more than six million people.The city is divided into 15 municipal districts, managed by the Municipality of Riyadh headed by the mayor of Riyadh, and the Development Authority of Riyadh which is chaired by the governor of the Province, Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud. The current mayor is Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Sultan. Riyadh has been designated a global city.

    The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque is an active place of worship in Riyadh named after Turki bin Abdullah bin Muhammad. Seating 17,000 worshippers and measuring 16,800 m2, it is one of the largest mosques in Saudi Arabia.The exterior and upper portion of the interior is primarily brown Arriyadh Limestone which appears golden when lit up at night. The lower portion of the interior is in white marble. The structure includes separate men's and women's libraries of 325-m2 each. The mosque is directly connected from the first floor to Qasr Al-Hukm Palace via two bridges across Assafah Square.

    King Fahd Academy was a school in Lannesdorf, Bad Godesberg district, Bonn, Germany. The school, with an attached mosque, housing elementary school through high school,opened in 1995. Financed by the King of Saudi Arabia and sponsored by Saudi Arabia, it was named after King Fahd. The school was closed at the end of the 2016/2017 school year, after long-running criticism that it was attracting Islamists to Germany. The school's last director was Ibrahim Al-Megren.
