Turville is a village and civil parish in Buckinghamshire, England. It is in the Chiltern Hills, 5 miles west of High Wycombe and 5 miles north of Henley-on-Thames. The name is Anglo-Saxon in origin and means 'dry field'. It was recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in 796 as Thyrefeld. The manor of Turville once belonged to the abbey at St Albans, but was seized by the Crown in the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1547. The manor house has since been rebuilt as Turville Park. 1. Cobstone Windmill Turville
Cobstone Mill was built around 1816 and is located on Turville Hill in the civil parish of Ibstone in Buckinghamshire, England, and overlooks the village of Turville. It is sometimes referred to as Turville Windmill. It is a smock mill that replaced the original mill that had stood there since the 16th century. The machinery was previously used in another mill in the village of Lacey Green. It was a working mill grinding cereal until 1873. Later, squatters living in the mill caused a fire which damaged the centre post. After this time the mill went further into deterioration. It was not until 1967 and the filming of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang that the mill was cosmetically restored. The cap was remolded, a new fantail and light wooden sails were added. Sudeley Castle is located in the Cotswolds near Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England. The present structure was built in the 15th century and may have been on the site of a 12th-century castle. The castle has a notable garden, which is designed and maintained to a very high standard. The chapel, St. Mary's Sudeley, is the burial place of Queen Catherine Parr , the sixth wife of King Henry VIII, and contains her marble tomb. Unusually for a castle chapel, St Mary's of Sudeley is part of the local parish of the Church of England. Sudeley is also one of the few castles left in England that is still a residence. Turville Village Church And Pub Midsomer Murders

Turville Village possibly the most beautiful in England. The church was used for the Vicar of Dibley, The windmill for Mary Poppins. The Pub for Midsomer Murders. and that's just the start. The pub is the slightly unusually named 'Butchers Arms'. Midsomer Murders Trail. There is also Sleepy Cottage. It was Bramley End in the war time movie 'Went the Day Well?'. The classic 1945 British chiller Dead of Night. Also the more recent Oscar-nominated An Education (2009) one of my favorite films where the nice old lady is conned out of her paintings and the girl who is getting 'An Education in Life' realises that her exciting and sophisticated new friends are black-hearted spivs.
