Wasdale Head camping trip:Ilgill Head,Wastwater viewpoint,Ravenglass. 8th-10th July 2019
A solo 2 day trip 30 mile down the coast to Wasdale Head Inn where they run their own campsite.£5 a night..a bargain. Anyway I climbed up Illgill head on the 1st day..shame it wasnt quite clear as it was drizzly condition but still got decent views..2nd day was abit of a washout so had a run out to Ravenglass and saw the Riman Bath house remains as well as a look at the trains in the Ratty station.Also visited the Wastwater viewpoint,sadly the best views were shrouded in cloud .Enjoyed 2 evenings in the pub with food and ales..A nice short break,shame about the weather #WasdaleHeadInn #Wastwater. #Lakedistrict.

Adventurous bumpy ride through the Lake District aimed to sight Scafell Pike. England's highest mountain unfortunately remained cloud covered, but the unnamed road that led into Wasdale Head still provided a scenic track running alongside Wastwater.

The Lake District is a region and national park in Cumbria in northwest England. A popular vacation destination, it’s known for its glacial ribbon lakes, rugged fell mountains and historic literary associations. Market towns such as Kendal, Ambleside and Keswick on scenic Derwentwater are bases for exploring the area and home to traditional inns, galleries of local art and outdoor equipment shops.
The Lake District, also known as the Lakes or Lakeland, is a mountainous region in North West England. A popular holiday destination, Lake District is famous for its lakes, forests and mountains (or fells) and its associations with the early 19th century writings of William Wordsworth and the other Lake Poets.
Lake District is located in the county of Cumbria, and all the land in England higher than 3,000 feet (910 m) above sea level lies within the National Park, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. Lake District also contains the deepest and longest bodies of water in England, respectively Wast Water and Windermere.
The Lake District National Park includes nearly all of the Lake District, though the town of Kendal and the Lakeland Peninsulas are currently outside the park boundary. The Lake District is one of the most highly populated national parks. There are, however, only a handful of major settlements within this mountainous area, the towns of Keswick, Windermere, Ambleside, and Bowness-on-Windermere being the four largest.
The Lake District National Park is almost contained within a box of trunk routes. It is flanked to the east by the A6 road which runs from Kendal to Penrith (though the extension approved in 2015 will be east of the A6). The principal radial valleys are (clockwise from the south) Dunnerdale, Eskdale, Wasdale, Ennerdale, Lorton Vale and the Buttermere valley, the Derwent Valley and Borrowdale, the valleys containing Ullswater and Haweswater, Longsleddale, the Kentmere valley and those radiating from the head of Windermere including Great Langdale.
Only one of the lakes in the Lake District is called by that name, Bassenthwaite Lake. All the others such as Windermere, Coniston Water, Ullswater and Buttermere are meres, tarns and waters, with mere being the least common and water being the most common. The major lakes and reservoirs in the National Park are given below.

48 hours in the Lake District, UK.
We spent a weekend in the Lake District, exploring Derwent Water, Cat Bells, Lake Windermere, Wansfell Pike & Stock Ghyll Force.
On day 1 we got the ferry across Derwent Water, and then we hiked 450m up Cat Bells, which is one of the fells in the Lakes. On the second day, we explored Stock Ghyll Force and the forest around it, and then made our way up Wansfell Pike.

North York Moors - Coastal Walk and Cliff Top Wild Camp
In this video we walk a section of the Cleveland Way from Robin Hood's Bay towards Scarborough. We followed the trail along the stunning North Yorkshire coastline before camping for the night overlooking the sea. We witnessed a spectacular sunrise before making our way back to the car at Cloughton.

Hawkshead is a village and civil parish in Cumbria, England, which attracts tourists to the South Lakeland area. The parish includes the hamlets of Hawkshead Hill, 1.2 miles (1.9 km) to the north west, and Outgate, a similar distance north. Hawkshead contains one primary school but no secondary school and four public houses.
Hawkshead is just north of Esthwaite Water, in a valley to the west of Windermere and east of Coniston Water. It is part of Furness, making it a part of the ancient county of Lancashire. The township of Hawkshead was originally owned by the monks of Furness Abbey; nearby Colthouse derives its name from the stables owned by the Abbey. Hawkshead grew to be an important wool market in medieval times and later as a market town after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1532. It was granted its first market charter by King James I in 1608. In 1585, Hawkshead Grammar School was established by Archbishop Edwin Sandys of York after he successfully petitioned Queen Elizabeth I for a charter to establish a governing body.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, Hawkshead became a village of important local stature. Poet William Wordsworth was educated at Hawkshead Grammar School, whilst Beatrix Potter lived nearby, marrying William Heelis, a local solicitor, in the early 20th century. Much of the land in and around the village is now owned by the National Trust. The National Trust property is called Hawkshead and Claife.
With the formation of the Lake District National Park in 1951, tourism grew in importance, though traditional farming still goes on around the village. Hawkshead has a timeless atmosphere and consists of a characterful warren of alleys, overhanging gables and a series of mediaeval squares. It is eloquently described in William Wordsworth's poem The Prelude.
