The present structure was built in the 15th century and may have been on the site of a 12th-century castle. The castle has a notable garden, which is designed and maintained to a very high standard. The chapel, St. Mary's Sudeley, is the burial place of Queen Catherine Parr , the sixth wife of King Henry VIII, and contains her marble tomb. Unusually for a castle chapel, St Mary's of Sudeley is part of the local parish of the Church of England. Sudeley is also one of the few castles left in England that is still a residence. Chedworth Footpath to a Roman Villa
Later in our trip we took a walk on one of the famous English footpaths from the small village of Chedworth to a Roman Villa built in the 4th Century C.E. and discovered in 1864. On the way home we lost scent of the trail of the footpath and experienced an UNDOCUMENTED misadventure. You can see Sarah walking away from the gate to a barn where we were calling to ask directions back to Chedworth. But all's well... as you see we found the PUB! This time, the music is a piece by John Dowland, performed by me.
