Valle del Cauca, or Cauca Valley is a department of Colombia. It is in the western side of the country, facing the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Santiago de Cali. Given its privileged location, lately it has been considered as the Pacific Door of Colombia. Besides Cali such cities as Buenaventura, Cartago and Tuluá have great economical, political, social and cultural influence on the department's life.     The Pance River flows along the southern side of Cali city, Colombia, and is a popular place for locals for recreation and leisure activities. It is almost the only river in the city that is not polluted, and people can still swim there. The Pance River is one of the major rivers in Cali. Born in the Farallones de Cali, in the Pico Pance, which is the highest mountain in the Western Cordillera, over 4,000 metres . The river is more than 25 kilometres long and flows in a west-east direction into the river Jamundí-turn, a tributary of the Cauca River draining a catchment area of 89.75 square kilometres .   • 2. Laguna el Sonso Buga
    The Laguna de Sonso Nature Reserve is located in the Valle del Cauca Department of Colombia. It contains the last extensive remnant of original natural wetland remaining in the Cauca River Valley in western Colombia, and was declared a nature reserve in October 1978. It comprises a series of marshes and lagoons on the east bank of the Cauca River, between the municipalities of Buga, Yotoco and Guacari. It has an area of 2,045 ha , lying at an altitude of 935 m . The wetlands are affected by the introduced water hyacinth.

    Uramba Bahía Málaga National Natural Park, is one of the newest Colombian national parks and a popular ecotourism destination. It is located in and around Málaga Bay on the Colombian Pacific coast in the municipality of Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. It is an area of high biodiversity and a favorite spot for reproducing Humpback Whales, making this area a popular whale watching destination. Most of natural area is pristine with the exception of the areas around a few small towns like Juanchaco, Ladrilleros, and La Barra, as well as a Colombian naval base. The national park was created in 2010 and is Colombia's 56th national natural park.

  • 4. Calima Lake Valle Del Cauca Department
    Calima Lake is the largest artificial lake in Colombia with an area of 70 km2. It is located in the municipality of Darién in the Valle del Cauca Department. The lake is part of a hydroelectric project for generating power for the department. C.V.C started construction of the lake by 1961. Calima Lake has become a place for water sports and leisure activities. Vacation centers, restaurants and camping zones were built near the lake, and is currently a popular place frequented by both national and international tourists, especially those from nearby cities and towns like Cali and Buga. The elevation of the lake is 1,500 meters above sea level.
