The CDP is located on the Potomac River, borders Charles County and is approximately 17 miles from Washington, D.C. It is a part of the Washington metropolitan area. The population of the CDP, as of the 2010 United States Census was 10,573, making it the 118th most populous place in the state of Maryland. Mount Vernon was the plantation of George Washington, the first President of the United States, and his wife, Martha Dandridge Custis Washington. Today the historic mansion, outbuildings, and two museums are open to visitors 365 days a year. The estate is situated on the banks of the Potomac River in Fairfax County, Virginia, near Alexandria, across from Prince George's County, Maryland. Mac's Reef -- Scuba Diving in Panama City Beach

Mac's Reef is considered an offshore dive site in Panama City Beach, meaning that the artificial reef (sunk in 2007) is about 10 miles south of the beach, in about 100 feet of water. This video shows a good example of the types of sea life you can see, with a resident Goliath Grouper swimming up the stairs at the end of the clip.
