Fortaleza de São Miguel or Saint Michael Fortress was a Portuguese fortress built in Luanda, Angola. São Miguel fort was built in 1576 by Paulo Dias de Novais. The fort was for many years a self-contained town protected by thick walls encrusted with cannons. Inside the fort, elaborate ceramic tiles tell the story of Angola from early years, and in the courtyard are large, imposing statues of Portugal's first king, the first European to reach Angola, Diogo Cão, renowned explorer Vasco da Gama and other notables.Until 1975, the fortress served as the headquarters of the Commander-in-Chief of the Portuguese Armed Forces in Angola. Tundavala Gap is a viewpoint in the rim of the great escarpment called Serra da Leba. It is located some 18 km from the city of Lubango, in Huíla province, Angola. The escarpment marks the western limit of Bié Plateau. The altitude at the rim exceeds 2200 m, while the plain below is approximately 1200 m lower, which creates a rather impressive view, encompassing a distance of tens of kilometers. Tundavala National Stadium, in Lubango, which hosted the matches of Group D in the 2010 African Cup of Nations is named after Tundavala Gap.

They are a series of mysterious rock formations, many incredibly and spectacularly shaped in the form of animals, standing high above the flat African Savanna.There is a fort erected by the Portuguese in 1671. The region is noted for its 350-foot- high Calandula waterfalls on the Lucala River; the Luando Game Reserve in the south; the Milando animal reserve in the north; and the Pungo Andongo stones, giant black monoliths associated with tribal legend.
