    Tukh Manuk refers to archaic rural shrines in Armenia. Their origin is regarded to be pre-Christian or pagan, but are now a part of a folk tradition existing within the Armenian Church. Quite popular throughout Armenia, such shrines are often on hilltops, at the sources of springs, or just outside villages. Until the Russian conquest, it was the southernmost town in the district of Aparan. Mughni is home to the 14th-century Saint Gevork Monastery, which was formerly a popular pilgrimage site and the seat of an archbishop. The dome of the church was rebuilt in the 1660s.

    Saint Sarkis Monastery is a large monastic complex, 45 by 54 metres just outside the village of Ushi in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia. It sits at the far side of what was once a settlement site from the 3rd - 1st millennia BC. The monastery is a well known pilgrimage site, and was one of the centers of spiritual education in Armenia. Many fine examples of early Armenian architecture from various periods can be seen around the complex.     The Vahramashen Church , also commonly referred to as Vahramashen Surp Astvatsatsin or the Church of Amberd) was built for Prince Vahram Pahlavuni of the Pahlavuni family. An inscription on the inside lintel of the north portal to the church dates its completion to the year 1026.
