The Arkansas Delta is one of the six natural regions of the state of Arkansas. Willard B. Gatewood Jr., author of The Arkansas Delta: Land of Paradox, says that rich cotton lands of the Arkansas Delta make that area The Deepest of the Deep South.The region runs along the Mississippi River from Eudora north to Blytheville and as far west as Little Rock. It is part of the Mississippi embayment, itself part of the Mississippi River Alluvial Plain. 1. Southland Park Gaming and Racing West Memphis
Southland Park Gaming and Racing is a casino, buffet, and greyhound racetrack in West Memphis, Arkansas. Over 400 greyhound races take place at the Park each year. Simulcast thoroughbred and greyhound races from other tracks around the United States are also offered. After years of low attendance, Southland Park has regained popularity because neighboring casinos in Tunica, Mississippi experienced devastating floods 2011. In 2014, it was announced that Southland was to undergo a nearly $38 million dollar expansion and renovation. It is one of the most visited attractions in Arkansas and the city of West Memphis.

While on sebatical from acting My agent in Tulsa got me an audition for a co host gig for the arkansas tourism bureau portraying Hech Thomas. I worked in my second co host gig with a fine actor from Little Rock Arkansas who portrayed the famous first Black deputy marshall in arkansas Bass Reeves.Its less than 10 minutes and very informative if you was to ever want to travel to Arkansas.

Ozark Moonshine Run, Prim's Round Rocks, Smackover Ghost Tour, Great River Road

You're not likely to find moonshine, but you will enjoy one of the most picturesque drives in the Ozarks by taking the 110 mile Ozark Moonshine Run which utilizes six highways. Prim's round boulders have been quite the attraction for a long time. They're not so much a mystery, but are related to several geological processes dating back about ten thousand years. It's called Oil Town USA, but Smackover boasts of another attraction a ghost tour of five active haunted buildings plus three cemeteries. A pleasant Delta drive is the Great River Road, which is actually a national parkway of the Mississippi River, extending through ten states.

Mississippi Great River Road trip

All the way from the Mississippi River headwaters at Lake Itasca, Minnesota, down through 10 states to New Orleans, Louisiana. 3 weeks worth of travel condensed into 6 or so minutes.

I filmed a few seconds every hour on my humble little iPhone and ended up with just shy of 1000 clips which were filtered through and dropped into Premiere. There's no real narrative - I just wanted to capture the journey, and I think this does it. Lots of roads. Lots of long, long roads. :)

The art of falconry dates back about 3000 years, and is still common today. At DeGray Lake Resort State Park, public falconry hunts are incorporated with the eagle outings. Marble Falls -- once a part of Dogpatch USA—is a spring-fed waterfall, providing a year-round flow and is visible from Scenic Byway 7, along with the town of Marble Falls. Standing Rock is what's left of a massive rock formation in the Ouachita National Forest south of Mena. Driving along the Mississippi River levee at Lake Chicot State Park, provides a wonderful opportunity to experience the history, wildlife and culture of the area.

Provo River in 4K -- Late Spring 2017

This video, shot in 4K using a Panasonic G85 with EVO Rage gimbal and a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone, covers a good length of the Provo River from the headwaters near Mt Baldy to the Jordanelle Reservoir and including the Bridal Veil Falls below the Jordanelle. This video was filmed over a few days in June 2017 and right about the point of highest flows of the Provo River.

The first 3:26 was shot mostly near the top of the Provo River and around the Provo River Falls but includes a scene from Bridal Veil Falls about 45 miles downstream from the Provo River Falls.

Next up is drone footage near the Soapstone Campground which is just about midway up the mountain from Kamas. This segment of the video follows the course of the Provo River as it flows through a beautiful meadows area and west of the Soapstone Campground.

The last segment, also captured by drone, is at the east end of the Jordanelle Reservoir at the point where the Provo River enters the Jordanelle. Most of the boardwalks in this area appear to be taped off owing I would guess to the high water of this years high runoff.

Although Utah is generally thought of as high desert with mostly scrub vegetation when you get up into the mountains and particularly this time of year the landscape is very lush and green -- however, just a bit further down towards the SLC valley area and green turns to brown/grey.

From the valley floor near SLC at about 4250 feet MSL to the pass near Mt. Baldy the elevation increases by more than a mile and the temps in the summertime can be 35F lower at the top. I think I'll do a little tent camping this summer near the Soapstone campground as a way to beat the heat.
