Montana State University Billings is a state university located in Billings, Montana. It is the state's third largest university located in Montana's largest city. Its University Campus is located on 110 acres in downtown Billings, Montana, United States. Formerly Eastern Montana Normal School in its founding in 1927, it was then renamed in 1965 as Eastern Montana College . It merged into the Montana State University System in 1994 under its present name.     Pictograph Cave is an area of three caves located 5 miles south of Billings, Montana, United States, preserved and protected in the 23-acre Pictograph Cave State Park.Excavation of the three caves began in 1937, and they were the site of some of Montana's first professional archeological studies. Over 30,000 artifacts have been identified, with at least 20,000 animal remains recovered from the site. Species range from large mammalian species, including bison and elk , to various species of herpetiles and avies . The presence of these remains result from human predation, processing and consumption as well as non-human predation and individual species who lived and died in and around the site.
