Along with the adjoining city of Gulfport, Biloxi is a county seat of Harrison County. It was first settled by French colonists. The city is part of the Gulfport–Biloxi metropolitan area and the Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula, MS Combined Statistical Area.
