Bjelovar-Bilogora County is a county in central Croatia. The central town of Bjelovar was first mentioned in 1413, and it only gained importance when a new fort was built in 1756 to defend against the Ottoman invasions. The town was pronounced a free royal town in 1874. The other part of the county name is for the hill of Bilogora that stretches along the northern edge of the county. Other towns in the county are Daruvar, Garešnica, Čazma and Grubišno Polje. The Bjelovar-Bilogora County borders on the Koprivnica-Križevci County in the north, Virovitica-Podravina County in the northeast, Požega-Slavonia County in the southeast, Sisak-Moslavina Coun...

Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the oldest and the largest national parks in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register.The national park was founded in 1949 and is situated in the mountainous karst area of central Croatia, at the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The important north-south road connection, which passes through the national park area, connects the Croatian inland with the Adriatic coastal region. The protected area extends over 296.85 square kilometres . About 90% of this area is part of Lika-Senj County, while the remaining 10% is part of Karlovac County. Each year, more than 1 million visitors are recorded. Entrance is subject to variable charges, up to 250 kuna or around €34 per adult per day in summer 2018.

The Museum of Broken Relationships is a museum in Zagreb, Croatia, dedicated to failed love relationships. Its exhibits include personal objects left over from former lovers, accompanied by brief descriptions. The museum began as a traveling collection of donated items. Since then, it has found a permanent location in Zagreb. It received the Kenneth Hudson Award for Europe's most innovative museum in 2011.

A Morning in Bjelovar, Croatia

During our Croatia road trip my girlfriend and I spent the night in Bjelovar. It wasn't planned but it turned out that Bjelovar, Croatia is a lovely place to visit!

It's a very small town and since we were staying nearby we decided to explore Bjelovar in the morning before continuing on with our trip.

Bjelovar is the capital city of the region with a population of 40,000 people. Walking around on a summer morning the town felt much smaller and it was a rather quiet and peaceful place to visit.

There is a small old town area in the center of town and a few other buildings and churches to check out. After grabbing breakfast and exploring for an hour we decided to continue on with our trip.

Bjelovar is a great place to visit and I hope to return in the future to spend some more time exploring the town!
