Bremen is a city straddling the Weser River in northwest Germany. It’s known for its role in maritime trade, represented by Hanseatic buildings on the Market Square. The ornate and Gothic town hall has a Renaissance facade and large model ships in its upper hall. Nearby is the Roland statue, a giant stone figure symbolizing freedom of trade. St. Peter’s Cathedral features medieval crypts and twin spires.
The free Hanseatic City of Bremen is a city in northern Germany with a major port on the River Weser. The population is 548,000. It is also the name of one of the states of Germany which consists of two separated enclaves on the River Weser. Bremerhaven geographically separate form the city of Bremen but administratively part of the state of Bremen.
Bremen was once a member of the medieval Hanseatic League and is still one of the most important cities in northern Germany. Together with the city of Bremerhaven on the North Sea it forms Germany's smallest state. Bremen has more than 1200 years of history, and was, for most of its existence, an independent city-state.
The Bremer Stadtmusikanten (Town Musicians of Bremen) perhaps the most well known figures associated with Bremen are characters from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name. Their image adorns many of the souvenirs in the city. Next to the Town Hall is a much photographed statue of them.
Bremen is a rather long and narrow city, lining both sides of the river Weser. Along the north-west/south-east axis it stretches about 10 km, but across only 2 km. The entire city is located on flat plains. Much of Bremen (or at least the part frequented by tourists) can be negotiated by foot - the best way to explore the old city and its surrounding districts.
Stroll around the city center and visit the Schnoor-Viertel with its old buildings - most were built between the 15th and 18th century. If you are interested in art, visit the Bremer Kunsthalle (museum of art) with one of North Germany's finest collections. If you like football, you see one of the matches of Werder Bremen, a team playing in the Bundesliga (German premier league). You can also visit their stadium Weser Stadion for a few euros when there isn't a game going on.
A good way to get in touch with the locals is to stroll along the river Weser on the scenic Osterdeich, where - in good weather - lots of little groups hanging out on the grassy hills may invite you to barbecue with them or have a beer. Don't miss the beautiful Bürgerpark.

Bremen is a Hanseatic city in northwestern Germany, which belongs to the state Free Hanseatic City of Bremen (also called just Bremen for short). As a commercial and industrial city with a major port on the River Weser, Bremen is part of the Bremen / Oldenburg Metropolitan Region.
Bremen is a major cultural and economic hub in the northern regions of Germany. Bremen is home to dozens of historical galleries and museums, ranging from historical sculptures to major art museums, such as the Übersee-Museum Bremen. Bremen has a reputation as a working class city. Along with this, Bremen is home to a large number of multinational companies and manufacturing centers. Companies headquartered in Bremen include the Hachez chocolate company and Vector Foiltec. Four-time German football champions Werder Bremen are also based in the city. Bremen is some 60 km (37 mi) south from the Weser mouth on the North Sea. With Bremerhaven right on the mouth the two comprise the state of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen .
Bremen has an international airport situated 3 km (2 mi) south of the city centre. Trams in Bremen and local bus services are offered by the Bremer Straßenbahn AG (translates from German as Bremen Tramways Corporation), often abbreviated BSAG, the public transport provider for Bremen. The Bremen S-Bahn covers the Bremen/Oldenburg Metropolitan Region, from Bremerhaven in the north to Twistringen in the south and from Oldenburg in the west, centred on Bremen Central Station. It has been in operation since 2010. This network unified existing regional transport in Bremen as well as surrounding cities, including Bremerhaven, Delmenhorst, Twistringen, Nordenham, Oldenburg, and Verden an der Aller. The network lies completely within the area of the Bremen-Lower Saxony Transport Association, whose tariff structure applies.

Visit Germany: Top 10 Cities to Visit in Germany from Wolters World
This is always a controversial topic in any travel site. But I want to say these are my opinions and there are literally dozens of other towns in Germany worth visiting. I have visited approximately 80 cities and towns in Germany for tourism and these are my ten favorite to visit. Please feel free to comment on your favorites.
These are in no particular order.
1. Quedlinburg. This UNESCO World Heritage town is chock full of half timbered houses (Fachwerk), a nice castle, very few tourists, and one of the prettiest quaintest Christmas markets in Germany. It is my favorite town in Germany.
2. Berlin. The capital, from History (Berlin Wall), to Museums (Museum Island), to Palaces (Charlottenberg), to eating and drinking (Kreuzburg). The city has it all.
3. Munich. There is a reason why all those tourists flock to Munich, not just for Oktoberfest. The Residenz Museum, Englisch Garten, Deutsches Museum and so much more. And do not forget about the beer.
4. Dresden. This Saxon jewel still has many of the treasures its kings have left it, and some rebuilt gems like the Frauenkirche. And if you like gems and precious stones, check out the Green Vault.
5. Bamberg. The home of Rauchbier (smoked beer that tastes like bacon), an amazing city center that has not been ravaged by war, and one of the coolest town halls (Rathaus) in Germany.
6. Luebeck. This gem just north of Hamburg has Marzipan and beautiful city gates to charm anyone.
7. Goerlitz. A bit off the beaten trail, but I love its non-war-ravaged old town and almost ghost town feel in the center. Not to mention a quick hop over to Poland on the pedestrian bridge.
8. Rothenburg ob der Tauber. THE middle age looking town in Germany. It looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale. You can even walk the town walls and enjoy so much more.
9. Cochem and the Moselle River Valley. Germany is famous for beer, but they also make great white wine. Cochem is a quaint town on the Moselle with a city castle as well as easy access to the vineyards and the amazing Burg Eltz.
10. Konstanz. On the beautiful Lake Constance or Bodensee, this town gives you more than just Town Hall and City Museum, here you can enjoy the water sports that living on this beautiful lake affords you.

Die Sehenswürdigkeiten in Bremen erkunden durch eine Bremen Stadtführung mit dem Stadtmusikanten Express im Sightseeing Video jetzt hier ansehen!
Im Juli 2017 hat Bremen Tourismus den Stadtmusikanten Express in seine erste Saison geschickt. Mit der komfortablen Elektrobahn bekommen Touristen und Einheimische auf einer Bremen Stadtrundfahrt einen tollen ersten Überblick über die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten in Bremen.
Folgende Bremen Sehenswürdigkeiten gibt es in diesem Reisevideo:
- Marktplatz mit Rathaus und Roland (UNESCO-Welterbe)
- Bremens ältestes Viertel der Schnoor
- Wallanlagen und Ostertor Kulturmeile
- dem Bremer Viertel oder auch Steintorviertel
- das Faulenquartier mit Weserpromenade und Schlachte
- sowie zu guter letzt die Überseestadt
Es gibt zwei unterschiedliche Sightseeing Touren. Die Route der einen Tour für durch die Bremer Innenstadt und die andere führt durch Bremen Überseestadt. Also genau das richtige für einen gelungenen Start der Bremen Reise oder vom Bremen Urlaub. Auch Einheimische bekommen garantiert noch neue Bremen Reisetipps mit auf den Weg!
Auf der ersten Tour erlebt man das bunte Treiben auf dem Marktplatz und entlang der Weserpromenade Schlachte sowie Bremens ältestem Viertel dem Schnoor, die Wallanlagen mit der Ostertor Kulturmeile und natürlich dem Original Bremer Viertel - dem Steintorviertel. Also eine abwechslungsreiche Fahrt in knapp unter einer Stunde. Die zweite Sightseeing Tour führt entlang der Weserpromenade Schlachte direkt in die moderne und neu erschlossene Überseestadt mit ihrer spannenden Vergangenheit als Industriehafen. Während der 90-minütigen Fahrt geht es bis in die Nähe zum Molenfeuer im Überseehafen Süd dem so genannten Mäuseturm am Getreidehafen Areal und wieder zurück in die Innenstadt.
Das kleinste aber zugleich feinste Bundesland ist Bremen. Bremen und Bremerhaven bilden gemeinsam den 2-Städte-Staat. Insgesamt dürfen sich rund 650.000 Menschen glücklich schätzen hier in beiden Städten zu wohnen. Bremerhaven liegt direkt an der Nordseeküste und Einmündung zum Fluss Weser. Bremen liegt 60 Kilometer im Landesinneren weiter flussaufwärts an der Weser.
Ausgangspunkt für unsere Bremen Stadtführung mit dem Stadtmusikanten Express ist im Herzen der Hansestadt der Marktplatz mit Rathaus, der Freiheitsstatue dem Roland und etwas an der linken Seite neben dem Rathaus versteckten Bremer Stadtmusikanten!

Bremen is a city in northern Germany, population 500,000+.
Bremen was once a member of the medieval Hanseatic League and is still one of the most important cities in northern Germany. Together with the city of Bremerhaven on the North Sea it forms Germany's smallest state. Bremen has more than 1200 years of history, and was, for most of its existence, an independent city-state.
Bremen is a rather long and narrow city, lined along both sides of the river Weser. Along the north-west/south-east axis it stretches about 10 km, but across only 2 km. The entire city is located on flat plains.
Bremen airport (IATA: BRE) (ICAO: EDDW) is located in the south-west of the town and offers flights to most bigger German cities and some European destinations. It's easily accessible by public transport (tram line 6, about 10 minutes from the city center) and by car. Major carriers are OLT, Ryanair and Lufthansa.
Several cafes and restaurants line the Schlachte along the Weser river while another popular area is the Viertel east of the Kunsthalle. Many traditional dishes from Bremen and Northern Germany are very satiable. This region is famous for Grünkohl (kale), fish (smoked eel, herring, smelt in March), an old sailor´s meal called Labskaus (lobscouse) consisting of mashed potatoes, corned beef, onions, fried egg a beetroot or chick ragout (very fine) as well as red fruit jelly or Butterkuchen (cake with yeast and topped with lots of butter, sugar and almonds). You can find some fish restaurants in Böttcherstrasse. Knigge is the name of a traditional coffee house in Bremen.
The world-wide known Beck's Beer is brewed in Bremen. Guided brewery tours in English and German are offered. Costs 11.90 Euros/person, also you have to book it in advance.
The Ratskeller is a wine cellar and restaurant with a famous collection of wines and the oldest wines in Germany. There are many bars, pubs and cafes in Bremen: the Schlachte along the Weser and the Viertel, a young and lively quarter. If you like beer and pretzels, try the Schüttinger brewery house (next to Böttcherstrasse) where several types of beer are brewed and served directly.
