In an unusual start to the day, Geoff and Vicki visit the Irish Railway Record Society in the morning, before hopping on their first train in the afternoon. Then it's off up to Ballybrophy and on to Limerick, chatting with the people along the way.

Galway Market Ireland and Beyond
The emerald isle is an enchanting old place full of narrow winding roads, quaint little towns, and really nice people. Driving on the opposite side of the car and street takes some getting used to. Once you get the hang of it, driving is one of the best ways to get to see the beautiful Irish countryside. Galway was one of the last destinations on our journey but one of our favorite locations. Situated on the West coast on a bay Galway has a nice market area which is full of restaurants, shops and bars. It is located adjacent to a large park which seems to be a popular spot for teens to hang out with friends.

Haiti is the starting point of this journey in the Caribbean. Since the time of Columbus, it has been the European idyll of paradise set amid a distant ocean. But beyond the dream is the fact that its original inhabitants were wiped out and replaced with African slaves. Now independent states have gradually emerged from the dark shadows of an inglorious past. They inhabit a tropical world, an exotic Caribbean island that consists of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
The Arawak Indians named the island, Hayti, Land of Mountains, and later Columbus changed the name to Hispanola. Wonderful beaches and golden sand, tropical rainforests that reach almost to the sea and crystal clear turquoise water, a perfect place to relax in one of the most beautiful regions in the world.
Jamaica is another Caribbean paradise and its second largest city, Montego Bay, is the starting point for tourists from all over the world. Harmony Hall is the name of an immaculate manor house situated on a turn of the century plantation, and James Bond Beach was once the winter retreat of English author, Ian Fleming.
Kingston is the capital of Jamaica and the island's political, economic and cultural centre, a former pirate stronghold that is a lively mixture of joie de vivre and reggae.
Nassau is the capital of New Providence Island and is only one of more than 700 islands in the Bahaman archipelago. It is visited by huge cruise liners that can be seen from everywhere, as they overshadow the city's buildings. On each side of its tranquil streets, the city's pastel colored houses look like something from a confectioner's shop.
Next, Havana, the Caribbean metropolis, that for many years has become somewhat run down and neglected. But nowhere else are the cocktails mixed better!
Finally, Trinidad, where time seems most definitely to have stood still! Cuba and the Caribbean, a melting pot of colonial culture and an overgrown and abundant Garden of Eden.

This is Chapter 17 of Paul Hodge’s 37 chapter HD video series chronicling the fantastic adventure awaiting you when you take a Princess cruise to the Western Caribbean. This HD video focuses on Paul’s 90 minute estate/natural history tour of Jamaica’s Prospect Estate on an open-air jitney drawn by a tractor. The HD video highlights the Paul’s visit and the end of his visit to the Prospect Estate Manor House which was built in the early 1700’s and has played host to many world leaders who were visiting Jamaica.
Prospect Estate dates from 1721 and comprises about 1,000 acres. Our guide, Donovan, educated us as to the colorful history of the estate which is Jamaica's oldest plantation. Prospect Estate “was a working plantation producing pimentos, allspice, and limes, all of it held together by its Scotland-born owner, Sir Harold Mitchell. Since his death, the Estate has been maintained as an eco-sensitive destination.” *
“The sprawling property passes through several different climate zones; takes you high enough for sweeping views out toward the point where Christopher Columbus was shipwrecked for more than a year during his fourth visit to the new world in the 1500s; passes a colony of (caged) African ostriches; and meanders through fields devoted, respectively, to sugar cane, coffee, and chocolate. Within semi-private compounds on the property is a semi-military boy's academy: Prospect Academy, established as a philanthropic act in 1956 by Sir Harold Mitchell, maintains one of the most stringent academic curriculums in Jamaica.” *
“Our visit to this property is an educational, relaxing, and enjoyable experience. We will learn about and see pimento (allspice), bananas, cassava, sugar cane, coffee, cocoa, coconut, pineapple, and the famous leucaena (Tree of Life”).” * In addition to seeing the magnificent White River Gorge, beautiful views of the North Coast and Jamaica's first hydroelectric plant, we will sample coconut juice provided to us by a very funny gentleman who climbs a coconut tree to retrieve the coconut the juice comes from.
Throughout the tour, “trees on the property bear signs indicating that they were planted by, among others, Winston Churchill, Henry Kissinger, Charlie Chaplin, Pierre Trudeau, Noël Coward and Edward Heath.” * At he end of our tour, we will be visiting the estate’s Great House at Prospect built in the early 18th century. It was fortified against raids by privateers and buccaneers.

Fred Oslen Cruise Lines passenger ship Braemar IMO:9000699 returned from her 16 Night/17 Day one way passage Bridgetown Barbados in the Caribbean to Southampton today the 17/03/18 and was due to depart later in the afternoon at 16:00pm but her departure time was changed to 16:30pm but she eventually got away from the QEll Cruise Terminal at 16:48pm the tug Smit Elbe was deployed to assist her departure due to the windy conditons.
Her current voyage now is a 14 Night Roundtrip Cruise to Andalusia & Seville in Spain & her first port call is La Coruna on the 19/03/18.
