Brooten is a city in Stearns and Pope counties in the U.S. state of Minnesota, United States. The population was 743 at the 2010 census. Almost the entire city is located within Stearns County, with only a small portion in Pope County. The Stearns County portion of Brooten is part of the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area.

1. Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Chanhassen
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a 1,137-acre horticultural garden and arboretum located about 4 miles west of Chanhassen, Minnesota at 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska, Minnesota. It is part of the Department of Horticultural Science in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota, and open to the public every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas. An admission fee is charged. It is the Upper Midwest's largest public garden. The arboretum's earliest area was established in 1907 as the Horticultural Research Center, which developed cold-hardy crops such as the Honeycrisp apple and Northern Lights azaleas. This video is from our storm chase on May 1st, 2012 in which MaryLynn and I saw a brief tornado near Sedan, MN. We followed this storm from near Glenwood, MN to east of St. Cloud, MN. The supercell had several wall clouds along the way, one that passed directly over the St. Cloud area. The storm produced a photogenic, mothership mesocyclone to the east of town before getting swallowed up by other storms in the vicinity.
