Buford is a city in Gwinnett and Hall counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 12,225. Most of the city is in Gwinnett County, which is part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta Metropolitan Statistical Area. The portions of the city in Hall County are not part of Atlanta's metropolitan statistical area, but are part of Atlanta's larger Combined Statistical Area, which includes Hall County. The city was founded in 1872 after a railroad was built in the area connecting Charlotte, North Carolina, with Atlanta.     Mall of Georgia is an enclosed super-regional shopping mall located in Gwinnett County, Georgia, near the city of Buford, 30 miles northeast of Atlanta. Opened in 1999 like Arbor Place Mall, it is currently the largest shopping mall in both the Atlanta Metropolitan Area and the state of Georgia, consisting of more than two hundred stores on three levels. The mall's anchor stores include Belk, Dillard's, JCPenney, Macy's, and the state's third Von Maur, while other major stores include Barnes & Noble, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Haverty's.
