Canastota is a village located inside the Town of Lenox in Madison County, New York, United States. The population was 4,084 at the 2010 census. The village of Canastota is in the south part of the Town of Lenox. Canastota High School is located in the village.

1. Howe Caverns Howes Cave
The Howe Caverns is a cave in Howes Cave, Schoharie County, New York. Howe Caverns is a popular tourist attraction, providing cave-goers with a sense of caving or spelunking, without needing the advanced equipment and training usually associated with such adventures. Howe Caverns is the second most visited natural attraction in New York State, after Niagara Falls.

Free Camping, Boondocking, fishing and wildlife - Hunts Pond, NY

Near Norwich, NY is an old state campground that is now free primitive camping. There are port-a-johns, but not much else except great outdoors fun fishing, boating, hiking, and relaxing. Camping in the previous Hunts Pond State Park area is only allowed at the 12 designated campsites around the perimeter of Hunts Pond. May 1 to September 30, campers must get a free permit from the DEC Sherburne office. Call 607-674-4017 to reserve a site. Sites generally are booked two weeks or more in advance, so it's important to call early for a site.

Stony Pond State Forest

Tak a short walk with us as we pass by Stony Pond in Stony Pond State Forest near Morrisville, NY. This state forest is famous for its 13 miles of nordic ski trails, which can also be hiked in the spring/summer/fall.
