The Central Arizona Project is a 336 mi diversion canal in Arizona in the United States. The aqueduct diverts water from the Colorado River from the Bill Williams Wildlife Refuge south portion of Lake Havasu near Parker into central and southern Arizona. The CAP is the second largest and expansive aqueduct system ever constructed in the United States. CAP is managed and operated by the Central Arizona Water Conservation District . It was shepherded through Congress by Carl Hayden.

  • 3. Big Surf Waterpark Tempe
    Big Surf is a waterpark located in Tempe, Arizona. Opened in 1969 and financed by the Clairol Company, it boasted the first wave pool in the United States. However Point Mallard Water Park had one first. It is located in Decatur, Alabama. The wave pool was designed by Phil Dexter. At a ceremony on August 17, 2013 the Waikiki Beach Wave pool was designated as an ASME Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark. The recognition is for being the first inland surfing facility in North America. The Big Surf Water park became the first amusement park or waterpark to receive such an ASME landmark status.

    Surprise is a city in Maricopa County, in the U.S. state of Arizona. The population was 30,848 at the 2000 census; however, rapid expansion has boosted the city's population to 117,517 at the 2010 census, an increase of 281%. As such, it is the second-fastest-expanding municipality in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area and, between 1990 and 2000, it was the sixth-fastest-expanding place among all cities and towns in Arizona. The city has a 10,562-square-foot Aquatics Center and Maricopa County's northwest regional library, a $5.5 million, 20,000-square-foot library, along with a 100.3 cost of living index.
