    For alternative meanings of Bartek, see: Bartek . Bartek is an ancient oak tree in Poland. It grows in Zagnańsk near Kielce in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. Its age, previously estimated at up to 1200 years, has recently been established to be 686 years , with a corer used to extract a sample for a ring count. An accurate count is impossible, as Bartek's interior has hollowed with age. There are several older trees in Poland, both oaks and yews , yet none of them has matched Bartek's fame. The 33,5-metre tall Bartek measures 970 cm at CBH and 13.5 metres in girth at its base. Its crown spreads about 40 metres. King Casimir III is known to have held court under Bartek.     Kampinos National Park is a National Park in east-central Poland, in Masovian Voivodeship, on the north-west outskirts of Warsaw. It has a sister park agreement with Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, Indiana, United States. The idea of creating a park here appeared for the first time in the 1920s. In the 1930s the first forest reserves were opened: Granica, Sieraków and Zamczysko. Today, these reserves are much larger and are strictly protected. The park was created in 1959, covering a total area of 407 square kilometres . It covers the ancient Kampinos Forest , and in January 2000 the area was added to UNESCO’s list of biosphere reserves.
