The Centro Region is a region in central Portugal. The cities with major administrative status inside this region are Coimbra, Aveiro, Viseu, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Covilhã and Guarda. It is one of the seven Regions of Portugal . It is also one of the regions of Europe, as given by the European Union for statistical and geographical purposes. Its area totals 28,462 km2 . As of 2011, its population totalled 2,327,026 inhabitants, with a population density of 82 inhabitants per square kilometre.

    Praia d'El Rey Golf & Beach Resort is a commercial tourism, golf and residential beach resort on Portugal's western Atlantic coast 106 kilometres north of the country's capital, Lisbon. It covers an area of 240 acres and is between the fishing town of Peniche, in Oeste Subregion, to the south and Obidos Lagoon to its north. The first properties built within the site in the late 1990s were near to its gated entrance, followed later by a Marriott Hotel and several hundred more private villas, townhouses and apartments - which are owned mostly by Irish, British and Scandinavian nationals.   • 6. Oitavos Dunes Cascais
    The Fort of São Jorge is located on the coastal highway EN 247, near the Oitavos dunes, in the parish and municipality of Cascais, Lisbon district, Portugal. The fort was erected during the Portuguese Restoration War with Spain. It was designed as shelter for a small garrison of a corporal, three gunners and 18 soldiers, positioned to prevent landings on the coast between Guincho beach and Guia beach and thus complement the defence of the River Tagus. It permitted crossfire with the Fort of Nossa Senhora da Guia and the Fort of São Brás de Sanxete at Praia Guincho. The fort was constructed under the direction of António Luís de Meneses, 1st Marquis of Marialva. It was equipped with four cannons, complemented by covered bartizans in the corners and by a covered line for the musketeers....

    The Seniors Open of Portugal was a men's professional golf tournament on the European Senior Tour. It was played in 2005 and 2006 and then again in 2011. The first prize was €45,000 out of total prize-money of €300,000. The 2005 event was held at Quinta de Cima, east of Tavira, on the Algarve, the 2006 event was held at Quinta da Marinha Golf Club, west of Cascais, while the 2011 event was held at Belas Clube de Campo Golf Course, north-west of Lisbon.

  • 14. Aroeira Lisbon
    Aroeira 3 is a 400,000 year old Homo heidelbergensis hominid skull which was discovered in the Aroeira cave, Portugal. It is the earliest human trace in Portugal. H. heidelbergensis existed at the transition between Homo erectus and early Neanderthals and used both stone tools and fire. The skull was damaged during the 2014 excavation but was restored in the following two years. In 2017 the description of the skull was published in PNAS. It is on display in the National Archaeology Museum .
