The Central Vermont Railway was a railroad that operated in the U.S. states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont, as well as the Canadian province of Quebec. It connected Montreal, Quebec, with New London, Connecticut, using a route along the shores of Lake Champlain, through the Green Mountains and along the Connecticut River valley, as well as Montreal to Boston, Massachusetts, through a connection with the Boston and Maine Railroad at White River Junction, Vermont.

    Snake Mountain, 1,287 feet , also called Grand View Mountain, is an isolated mountain located in Addison and Weybridge, Vermont; it belongs to a series of scattered hills extending from the greater Taconic Mountains geology. Snake Mountain contains the state of Vermont's 1,215-acre Snake Mountain Wildlife Management Area and The Nature Conservancy's Willmarth Woods Sanctuary. Several hiking trails ascend the mountain . Seen from the west, the mountain rises dramatically out of the nearby valley making it easy to recognize from other nearby hills and mountains.
