Hiking Guest River Gorge Recreation Area near Coeburn, Virginia
A short video review of the Guest River Gorge Recreation Area in the Jefferson National Forest just a few miles south of the town of Coeburn, Virginia. This location is in Scott County. This is a very well constructed and maintained trail, created from abandoned railroad lines that have been converted to hiking/biking trails under the rails-to-trails program. The trail utilizes the old railroad bed through the gorge, following the course of the beautiful Guest River, listed as a distinguished Virginia Scenic River. The trail also uses the old railroad trestles and tunnels. As you walk or bike the trail, you will be able to take in many great views of the Guest River as well as many interesting natural and man-made rock formations.
