Columbus Junction is a city in Louisa County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,899 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muscatine Micropolitan Statistical Area. Columbus Junction is home of the historic 'Swinging Bridge' found one block south of Highway 92 near downtown. Columbus Community School District serving Columbus Junction, Columbus City, Fredonia, Cotter, Conesville the surrounding townships is located in Columbus Junction. The city's largest employer is a Tyson pork processing plant located just north of the city on Highway 70.

The Amana Colonies are seven villages on 26,000 acres located in Iowa County in east-central Iowa, United States: Amana , East Amana, High Amana, Middle Amana, South Amana, West Amana, and Homestead. The villages were built and settled by German Pietists, who were persecuted in their homeland by the German state government and the Lutheran Church. Calling themselves the True Inspiration Congregations , they first settled in New York near Buffalo in what is now the town of West Seneca. However, seeking more isolated surroundings, they moved to Iowa in 1856. They lived a communal life until 1932. For eighty years, the Amana Colony maintained an almost completely self-sufficient local economy, importing very little from the industrializing American economy. Today we continue where we left off from our last video... from U.S. Highway 6 and Nebraska Highway 31 at the Gretna interchange onto Interstate 80 - going back towards Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S.A. (ending at the Waverly interchange).

This nice stretch of interstate was recently widened from it's original four lanes (of original interstate pavement) to six lanes within the last 14 years or so. Traffic counts has so dramatically increased between Nebraska's two largest cities that something had to be done. This new portion of the interstate was built so that it could one day be widened to eight lanes, if needed, with minimal hassle.

Another nice thing was when the national speed limit was abolished, trip times between Omaha and Lincoln dropped. 75mph (121kph) is a great speed! When the interstate was four lanes (with all the traffic), it was a bit dangerous, but now it's a smooth ride for most of the way :D !

...and I say most because there are two segments of the I-80 widening project that still needs to be completed (the project was only to take 10 years but that target was missed by a bit). I-80 between N. 56th Street & Cornhusker Highway and also between NW 56th Street and the U.S. 77 West Interchange, all in Lincoln. The state also needs to do the new I-80/I-180/U.S. 34/U.S. 77 Interchange in Lincoln one of these days... it's still in it's 1950's cloverleaf form.

The video is a little bumpy here and there but while watching, please do enjoy the ride!
