Crozet is a census-designated place in Albemarle County in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is situated along the I-64 corridor approximately 12 miles west of Charlottesville and 21 miles east of Staunton. Originally called Wayland's Crossing, it was renamed in 1870 in honor of Colonel Claudius Crozet, the French-born civil engineer who directed the construction of the Blue Ridge Tunnel. The population was 5,565 at the 2010 census. Crozet is part of the Charlottesville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

    Starr Hill Brewery was founded in 1999 in the town of Charlottesville, Virginia, by Mark Thompson and Kristin Dolan. The brewery takes its name from the neighborhood where it was originally located. In 2005, the brewery moved to nearby Crozet, Virginia.Starr Hill's beers can be found throughout the mid-Atlantic and southeast United States. The brewery has won several awards for its beer, in particular the Dark Starr Stout, which is the most decorated Dry Irish stout in the American craft brewing scene.In 2007, Starr Hill signed a distribution deal with Anheuser Busch but was released from this agreement in 2011.
