Its population was 5,430 at the 2010 census, up from 4,220 in 2000. Surrounding unincorporated areas with a Cumming mailing address have a population of approximately 100,000. Cumming is the county seat of Forsyth County.

    The Big Creek Greenway is a multi-use trail with two completed sections along Big Creek in the state of Georgia, United States. The first section begins at Big Creek Park in Roswell, GA and currently runs 8 miles to Marconi Drive in Alpharetta. A second completed section of the trail begins in Forsyth County at McFarland Parkway and runs 9.6 miles . Once complete, the trail will be 12 feet wide and traverse the cities of Roswell, Alpharetta and Cumming.

    The Sketchersons are a sketch comedy troupe based in Toronto, Ontario. They are winners of the 2007 Canadian Comedy Award for best Sketch Troupe, an award they had been nominated for each of the 3 years prior. The Sketchersons were again nominated for the award in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2013. The Sketchersons have performed across Canada and the United States, including at the 2005 and 2006 Montreal Fringe Festivals, the 2006 New York Fringe Festival, the 2008 Just For Laughs Sketch Comedy Gala in Toronto, the 2009 Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, and at the 2012 JFL42 Festival.
