The Taste of Chicago is the largest outdoor food festival in Chicago. Showcasing the diversity of Chicago’s dining community, the Taste is also home to some of the Summer’s best music festivals. Since 1980, Chicago’s Grant Park has been feeding over 2.5 million hungry visitors a year.
Straight from Dublin, The Chieftains will perform for Taste-goers with a Friday night concert at the Petrillo Music Shell, presented by Bud Light. The band was formed in 1962 by Paddy Moloney, Sean Potts and Michael Tubridy, and celebrated 50 years in 2012 with the release of their most recent album Voice of Ages.
Opening the Petrillo Music Shell on Friday is acoustic bluegrass group The Special Consensus. Banjoist and Chicago native Greg Cahill co-founded the band in 1975. Since then, the band has changed its line-up numerous times, but has grown in success. With several awards received for their outstanding live performances, the group will undoubtedly put on an amazing show for Chicago.
