California to New York: A Complete Road Trip
This is a complete road trip compilation from Santa Monica, California to New York City over eight different days from June-September, 2017 - all recorded in time-lapse at 4fps (nearly 100,000 frames total). Of the 3,253 miles (5,235 kilometers) driven, about 3 miles of this drive is missing, mostly in Colorado near Poncha Springs. Nearly all of this drive was done in daytime, but there is about 10 minutes of this video done in darkness in Arizona (about 1:00:00 to 1:10:00). The weather was good for the most part, except from Pennsylvania all the way to the Bronx, before clearing up in Manhattan. This trip also includes driving through the solar eclipse of August 21 in Nebraska (at about 3:30:00), as well as driving over the old Tappan Zee Bridge in upstate NY, which permanently closed a month later with the opening of the new Mario M Cuomo Bridge adjacent to it.

Both of these elevations are two of the three continental divide crossings; the other, at 2:04:38 (10,856 ft / 3,309 m), is the first.
The hottest temperature of this trip was 110 F (43 C) in Needles, California (about 0:40:16), and the coldest temperature of this trip was 53 F (11 C) in Tusayan, Arizona (about 1:10:04) - only about 230 miles (370 km) from Needles.

Buffalo is a city on the shores of Lake Erie in upstate New York. Its fine neoclassical, beaux arts and art deco architecture speaks to its history as an industrial capital in the early 20th century. Its landmarks include the 398-ft art deco City Hall, the Frank Lloyd Wright–designed Darwin D. Martin House and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, a Greek Revival museum with works by Picasso and Warhol.
The second-largest city in New York State, Buffalo is full of surprises. The city is undergoing a dramatic transformation as its proud history and incredible architectural legacy weave their way into every aspect of a renewed civic life. Surmounting the effects of deindustrialization, Buffalo is building a new identity as a city of great nightlife, cultural attractions and indigenous cuisine, as well as tight-knit neighborhoods with community spirit and a real sense of place. A palpable enthusiasm winds its way through the city's streets and neighborhoods, as locals who have summoned the collective will to revitalize their city are finally seeing their efforts pay off after decades of work.
More and more, Buffalo's exquisite and well-preserved architecture has grabbed the attention of locals and tourists alike. Buildings from almost every decade of Buffalo's existence are still preserved, with more being restored each year. As of December 2011, there are seven historic neighborhoods in Buffalo listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as six additional ones that have been granted landmark status by the Buffalo Preservation Board. Of those historic districts, there are three main ones of interest to architecture buffs:
The Allentown Historic District was the first Buffalo neighborhood to be listed on the National Register. Located north of downtown, Allentown was settled in the middle and late 19th century and is characterized by small but lovely red brick houses in styles that were popular at that time, such as the Italianate and French Second Empire. Among Allentown's most architecturally exquisite buildings are the Allendale Theatre and the seven houses that make up the Tiffts Row, both of which are located on Allen Street; the William Dorsheimer House on Delaware Avenue, and the former Buffalo Catholic Institute building on Main and Virginia Streets that is now home to the Church of Scientology.
The Delaware Avenue Historic District consists of the stretch of Delaware Avenue called Millionaire's Row. The National Register of Historic Places defines the Delaware Avenue Historic District as being located between North and Bryant Streets. Parkside is the neighborhood that consists of the streets in North Buffalo immediately north and east of Delaware Park.

The Loneliest Road in America — U.S. Route 50
U.S. Route 50 or US 50 is a major east–west route of the U.S. Highway system, stretching just over 3,000 miles or 4,800 km from Ocean City, Maryland on the Atlantic Ocean to West Sacramento, California. The route runs through mostly rural desert and mountains in the Western United States, with the section through Nevada known as The Loneliest Road in America. In the Midwest, US 50 continues through mostly rural areas of farms as well as a few large cities including Kansas City, Missouri; St. Louis, Missouri; and Cincinnati, Ohio. The route continues into the Eastern United States, where it passes through the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia before heading through Washington, D.C. From there, US 50 continues through Maryland as a high-speed road to Ocean City. US 50 passes through a total of 12 states California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland as well as the District of Columbia. Time Magazine (July 7, 1997) called U.S Highway 50 the backbone of America. But one could also call it the backbone of Colorado since it has had a major historic role in the development of our state.
US 50 was created in 1926 as part of the original U.S. Highway system. US 50 running from Sacramento, California east to Annapolis with a gap in west Utah that was bridged by running the route north via Salt Lake City. In Nevada, the highway crosses a series of north–south running mountain ranges that break up the Nevada desert which are called Basin and Range. East of Carson City, the road enters the heart of the Great Basin, passing by few communities and minimal services, giving it the name Loneliest Road in America until reaching Utah. Before the creation of the Interstate Highway System after World War II, US 50 was a major east–west route. Numbered highways in the United States follow a pattern of odd numbers for north–south routes and even numbers for east–west routes, hence the designation of 50 for this route. In the preliminary report, approved by the Joint Board on Interstate Highways in late 1925, US 50 ran from Wadsworth, Nevada to Annapolis, Maryland, passing through Pueblo, Colorado, Kansas City, Missouri, Tipton, Missouri, St. Louis, Missouri, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
