Eastern Norway is by far the most populous region of Norway. It contains the country's capital, Oslo, which is Norway's most populous city. In Norwegian, the region is called Østlandet and Austlandet in contrast to Vestlandet .

    Istrehågan is an ancient monument at Jåberg on the Sandefjord-Larvik border in Vestfold County, Norway. It is home to some of the largest stone settings in the Nordic Countries. Nearby Haugen farm in Sandefjord is home to Vestfold County’s largest petroglyph site. The rock carvings at Haugen farm are Vestfold County’s oldest ancient monument . It is an ancient burial ground which dates to the time of the Roman Iron Age around 1500-500 BCE. Large stone settings resemble a ship. The largest “ship” is 24 metres long, and 9 metres meters broad. Most rocks are about 1 metre tall, while some are as high as 4.5 metres .     Rollag is a municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Numedal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rollag, although the most populated area in the municipality is Veggli. Rollag is bordered in the north by Nore og Uvdal, in the east by Sigdal, in the south by Flesberg, and in the west by Tinn in Telemark.

    Vestre Gravlund is a cemetery in the Frogner borough of Oslo, Norway. It is located next to the Borgen metro station. At 243 acres , it is the largest cemetery in Norway. It was inaugurated in September 1902 and also contains a crematorium and chapel .The grave chapel was constructed in granite and clay stone and was designed by architect Alfred Christian Dahl . It was built in 1900 and consecrated in 1902. In the foundation wall, it has stained glass that was designed by artist Oddmund Kristiansen in 1970.
