The park was opened in 1967 by Gottlieb Löffelhardt and Richard Schmidt. Although starting as a family-oriented park, Phantasialand has also added thrill rides, especially during recent years. Furthermore, following the example of Europa-Park, they have decided to attract business customers beside the regular ones, calling it Business to Pleasure.Among the park's thrill rides is Taron , Black Mamba and a themed Mine Train roller coaster called Colorado Adventure, which runs among some mountains in the park's Wild West section and was opened by Michael Jackson.

Lost Places - Das Herrenhaus - Teil 1 - ГСВГ

1855 erwarb der Tuchmacher, Kaufmann und Torfstichbesitzer Johann Christian Gentz die „Kahlen Berge“. Dort baute er zusammen mit seinem Sohn Ludwig Alexander Gentz einen landwirtschaftlichen Musterbetrieb auf.
Der Kornspeicher wurde 1861 nach Entwürfen von Carl von Diebitsch erbaut.Nach dem Umzug der Familie auf das Gut plante Alexander Gentz eine komplette Umgestaltung: einen Park mit Schloss und ein Mausoleum.Das Herrenhaus wurde 1876/77 nach Entwürfen von Martin Gropius und Heino Schmieden im Stil des orientalisierenden Historismus erbaut. Der Park wurde von Gustav Meyer gestaltet.
Dass die Baukosten die von Gentz veranschlagten erheblich überstiegen, trug zum Ruin der Firma Johann Christian Gentz bei. Sie ging 1880 in Konkurs.1934 kam das Gelände in den Besitz der Wehrmacht und wurde als Schießplatz und Munitionslager genutzt, 1945 übernahm es die Rote Armee. Die Rote Armee fügte diverse Gebäude hinzu: Zwischen den Häusern entstanden ein Kino, zwei Plattenbauten, zwei Kasernen, ein Heizhaus, eine Kindertagesstätte, eine Sauna und ein Lebensmittelladen für bis zu 5.000 Menschen.
