Ferizaj , or Uroševac , is a city and municipality located in the Ferizaj District of Kosovo. According to the 2011 census, the city has 42,628 inhabitants, while the municipality has 108,610 inhabitants. The city has been populated since the prehistoric era by the Starčevo, Vinča and Baden culture. During the Ottoman period, Ferizaj served as a trading center on the route between Belgrade and Thessaloniki. Ferizaj has always been considered as a city where tolerance and coexistence in terms of religion and culture has been part of the society in the last centuries. 1. Via Ferrata Ari Pec
A via ferrata is a protected climbing route found in the Alps and certain other locations. The term via ferrata is used in most countries and languages except notably in German-speaking countries including Switzerland and Austria, which use Klettersteig . The essence of a modern via ferrata is a steel cable which runs along the route and is periodically fixed to the rock. Using a via ferrata kit, climbers can secure themselves to the cable, limiting any fall. The cable can also be used as aid to climbing, and additional climbing aids, such as iron rungs , pegs, carved steps and even ladders and bridges are often provided. Heading inland into the heart of the Balkans brings me into Kosovo from Montenegro. Kosovo is a partially recognized country as well as disputed territory in the Balkans. WIth a predominant majority of Albanians despite the land having much Serbian history. But I'm not here to argue all of this. I simply went to Kosovo to kill my curiosity.

From what I hear the people are kind, especially to Americans and I found that to be very true. Starting it off, I stayed in my first city, the small city of Peja. Due to it's proximity to the mountains, I set off on a solo hike into and up Rugova valley and mountains. The beauty of this place is incredible and the people were amazing. Even got to hitchhike on a farm tractor.

Hitchhiking south brings me to one of my favorite coffee spots, Prizren. This is a historic city with a small touch of tourism. Along the river are many cafes for coffee, a small city center, and a nice fortress above that delivers gorgeous views of the town and mountains in the distance. Perfect for sunsets.

My final city after some more hitchhiking was the capital city of Prishtina. Here I roamed around to check out the unfinished Orthodox church, National Library of Kosovo, Newborn monument sign, enjoyed some craft beer from Sabaja brewery, and people watched before setting off onto Macedonia en route to Albania and Greece. Kosovo is great :)

Prizren: KOSOVO'S GEM

I made a last minute decision to visit Kosovo for my first time ever. Prizren was my choice of location. I got the bus from Skopje which took me 3 hours, as I didn't do much recording the first night, I jump straight into the next day.
