  • 1. Pyynikki Park and Observation Tower Tampere
    The Pyynikki observation tower is a 26 meter observation tower in Tampere, Finland. It was completed in 1929 by the design of the city architect Vilho Kolho, and built using local red granite. The tower stands 75 meters above the level of the adjacent lake Pyhäjärvi on the Pyynikki ridge crest.The top can be reached by a lift, but walking up the stairs offers various observation windows. The open top offers a clear view of the city of Tampere as well as lake Näsijärvi on the north and lake Pyhäjärvi in the south. Entrance to the park and cafe is free but climbing the tower costs 50 cents for children or 2 euros for adults. The Cafe has its own historic donut recipe which has remained unchanged for 80 years.

    Pielinen is the fourth largest lake of Finland, with a drainage basin area of 12,823 km2 that is equally distributed between eastern Finland and Russia. The creation of the lake and its outlet is attributed to a post-glacial isostatic rebound, which resulted in uplift of the land.     Ekenäs Archipelago National Park is situated in the Ekenäs archipelago, in the Uusimaa region of Finland. It was established in 1989 and covers 52 square kilometres . The park is maintained by Metsähallitus . Most of the park's area is composed of rock islets near the open sea, and the water areas surrounding them. Landing on and using motorboats near the most important bird islands is forbidden from April 1 to July 17, to protect the nesting of aquatic birds. The park can only be accessed by boat. Visitors without a boat can reach it by a water taxi. Ekenäs Archipelago National Park received the European Diploma of Protected Areas on June 19, 1996. It is valid until June 2011.

    Helsinki Zoo is the largest zoo in Finland, located on the island of Korkeasaari in Helsinki. The zoo is also commonly referred to by the island's name, Korkeasaari. The island of Korkeasaari is a 22-hectare rocky island, connected to the mainland via a bridge to the Helsinki district of Mustikkamaa, where there is access to the zoo all year round. A ferry and water buses take visitors to the island during summertime, from the Market Square and Hakaniemi. Korkeasaari is among the most popular places among visitors in Helsinki. The animals on display are divided geographically to Amazonia, Africasia and Borealia. There are about two hundred Animal species, and about a thousand plant species.

    Linnansaari National Park is a national park in the Southern Savonia and Northern Savonia regions of Finland. It lies in the middle of the lake Haukivesi, a part of greater Saimaa. The National Park was established to conserve the valuable natural features of the Finnish lakeland. On the main island there's an old croft. Slash-and-burn agriculture is still practised on its fields to conserve the old cultural landscape and the associated plant and animal species. A large part of the island is natural-state coniferous forest, with some herb-rich parts. The critically endangered Saimaa Ringed Seal inhabits the park.

    Repovesi National Park is situated in the municipalities of Kouvola and Mäntyharju, only a few hours north-east of the more populous Helsinki area of southern Finland.
