Frankfort is a city in Benzie County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,286 at the 2010 census. The elevation of Frankfort is 600 ft above sea level. The city is situated with Lake Michigan to the west, Lake Betsie, formed by the Betsie River before flowing into Lake Michigan, on the south and Crystal Lake Township to the north and east. The city is on M-22 just north of Elberta. M-115 has its western terminus in the city. The Frankfort North Breakwater Lighthouse is at the end of the northern breakwater in Lake Michigan.

This Northern Michigan park was established primarily because of its outstanding natural features, including forests, beaches, dune formations, and ancient glacial phenomena. The Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is a scenic route within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, in western Northern Michigan in the United States. The roadway, with its scenic vistas and gentle curves, is located off state highway M-109 between Empire and Glen Arbor. It runs for 7.4 miles through forest and dunes areas, providing access to scenic overlooks of the Lake Michigan shoreline and the surrounding park land. Interpretive markers along the roadway are keyed to the National Park Service's printed guide to the drive. Point Betsie Light is located on the northeast shore of Lake Michigan — at the southern entrance to the Manitou Passage — north of Frankfort in Benzie County in Northern Michigan. Construction began in 1854, but it was not completed until 1858, and began service in the shipping season of 1859. The lighthouse cost $5,000 to build. In 1875, a life saving station was built for $3,000.

Most Beautiful Place in America - ABC Good Morning America

Benzie County - Michigan was voted the Most Beautiful Place in America by Viewers of ABC's Good Morning America. These are the most interesting and beautiful views from our father and son cycling/camping trip. 4 days, 60 miles of riding with my 5 years old boy.
This area is absolutely beautiful... IT'S REALLY QUIET, not many people or traffic even during weekends. A lot of wildlife including black bears, and a lot of attractions for everyone.

RV Travel: The Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre - Honor, Michigan - Roadside America

While traveling in our RV in Michigan, we came across this neat roadside attraction.

Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre & Diner is a historic drive-in theater and diner in Honor, Michigan on US Highway 31. It opened on July 4, 1953 and was one of seven remaining drive-in theaters in Michigan in 2003. It has a snack bar, children's play areas, putt-putt golf, beach volleyball, home-run derby and an area for dogs. Entertainment events include Hula-Hoop contests and Elvis impersonators. The Cherry Bowl is the only remaining drive-in theater in Northern Michigan. The Cherry Bowl's sound system uses the original vacuum tube motiograph amplifiers powering speakers at speaker posts. An FM Radio option is also offered. The drive-in theatre is open in the summertime. The Cherry Bowl has converted to digital HD projection. [Wikipedia]
