Freehold Township is a township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 36,184, reflecting an increase of 4,647 from the 31,537 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 6,827 from the 24,710 counted in the 1990 Census.Freehold Township was first formed on October 31, 1693, and was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798.
