Ghent is a city and a municipality in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is the capital and largest city of the East Flanders province, and the second largest municipality in Belgium, after Antwerp. The city started as a settlement at the confluence of the Rivers Scheldt and Leie and in the Late Middle Ages became one of the largest and richest cities of northern Europe, with some 50,000 people in 1300. What to do in GHENT | Belgium Day Trip

Every traveller should have Ghent on their list of cities to see. A quick train ride from Brussels, this ancient medieval town has no shortage of sights to see. A Grand Castle, old churches and a 91 metre high Belfry of Ghent. The canal through the old town included boat rides and there are a handful of fantastic museums.

The weather started off great then quickly turned into rain, however, I made the most of it. When the rain wouldn't cease, I had some beer and waffles. Ghent, Belgium is a must see!

I recommend to try the noses of Ghent candy, waffles, hot chocolate and of course the Belgian beer.
