Grodno/Hrodna Region is one of the regions of Belarus. It is located in the northwestern part of the country. The capital, Grodno, is the biggest city of the region. It lies on the Neman River. Grodno's existence is attested to from 1127. Two castles dating from the 14th - 18th centuries are located here on the steep right bank of the Nemen. Many consider this city one of the most beautiful in Belarus: one of its masterpieces survived through the centuries, Orthodox St Boris & St Gleb Church dating back to the 12th century, is the second oldest in Belarus.

    Zhyrovichy Monastery is an Orthodox monastery in Belarus, in the village of Zhyrovichy . The monastery was founded in the 16th century. Due to a belief, an icon of Virgin Mary was found in the local woods. A church was built on the place where the icon was found, but soon it was burned by fire and the icon was lost. Many years later the icon was found again with mysterious imprints on it – presumably those of Virgin Mary’s palm and foot. The icon is considered miraculous and the stone became part of the altar in the church of Exaltation of the Cross. Since then the Zhyrovichy monastery is a major place of pilgrimage in Belarus.     Ruzhany Palace is a ruined palace compound in Ruzhany village, Pruzhany Raion , Brest Voblast , Western Belarus. Between the 16th and 19th centuries Ruzhany, then called Różany, was the main seat of the senior line of the Sapieha noble family, known as the Sapiehas of Ruzhany. The castle is currently under systematic reconstruction, with the palace ornate gate and entry building being already restored.
