Socotra Island off the coast of Yemen has been called the strangest place in the world.

This is true, but it's also one of the most interesting places in the world. Socotra is an isolated place of odd and beautiful plants and animals.

There are hundreds of flora and fauna that can only be found in this one place.

Socotra Island is home to the dragon's blood tree which weeps a red fluid.

There's also the corpulent desert rose, which grows a lovely pink flower.

These and other wonderfully bizarre forms of life bring people to these islands on a regular basis.

UNESCO has recognized Socotra Island as a natural world heritage site worthy of being preserved.
