Helme is a small borough in Helme Parish, Valga County, in southern Estonia. It's located only 2 km northwest of the town of Tõrva by the Valga–Pärnu road . At the 2011 Census, the settlement's population was 167.Helme church parish was first mentioned in 1329 during a Lithuanian raid. Most of the neighbouring land was fiefed in the 15th–16th centuries. Livonian Order castle in Helme was probably built in the first half of the 14th century. The site on a steep hill is believed to have been used as a stronghold earlier by Sackalians in the Ancient Estonia.
