1. Hollental Hinterzarten
The Höllental in the Black Forest is a deep valley - in places like a gorge - in the state of Baden-Württemberg in Germany. The valley, which is about 9 km long, is located in the southern part of the Southern Black Forest Nature Park about 18 km southeast of Freiburg im Breisgau between Hinterzarten and Buchenbach-Himmelreich. The Rotbach stream runs through the valley. Hölle is the German word for hell. In the narrow, dark valley, travellers almost felt like moving underground. The valley was the locale of the Battle of Emmendingen in 1796, part of the French Revolutionary Wars.

Europa-Park is a theme park and the largest in Germany, and the second most popular theme park resort in Europe, following Disneyland Paris. Europa-Park is located in Rust, in south-western Germany, between Freiburg and Strasbourg, France. The park is home to 13 roller coasters, the oldest being Alpenexpress Enzian, a powered coaster that speeds through a diamond mine, and the newest coaster being the Ba-a-a Express, a small kiddie roller coaster. Europa-Park has very high capacity roller coasters and attractions meaning the park can accommodate up to approx. 60,000 guests per day. It counted just over 5.6 million visitors in 2017.It is also the location of the Euro Dance Festival.

The Titisee is a lake in the southern Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg. It covers an area of 1.3 km2 and is an average of 20 m deep. It owes its formation to the Feldberg glacier, the moraines of which were formed in the Pleistocene epoch and nowadays form the shores of the lake. The lake's outflow, at 840 m above sea level, is the River Gutach, which merges with the Haslach stream below Kappel to form the Wutach). The waters of the Titisee thus drain eventually into the Upper Rhine between Tiengen and Waldshut. On the north shore lies the spa town of the same name, today a part of the municipality of Titisee-Neustadt.

Mainau[ˈmaɪnaʊ] also referred to as Mavno, Maienowe , Maienow , Maienau, Mainowe und Mainaw is an island in Lake Constance . It is maintained as a garden island and a model of excellent environmental practices. Administratively, the island has been a part of Konstanz since December 1, 1971, when the municipality of Litzelstetten, of which Mainau was part, was incorporated into Konstanz. Mainau is still part of Litzelstetten, now one of 15 wards of Konstanz. The island belongs to the Lennart Bernadotte-Stiftung , an entity created by Prince Lennart Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg, originally a Prince of Sweden and Duke of Småland. The Lichtentaler Allee is a historic park and arboretum set out as a 2.3 kilometer strolling avenue along the west bank of the river Oos in Baden-Baden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is open daily without charge. The avenue is said to have begun in 1655 as path between the town market and Lichtenthal monastery. It was developed from 1850-1870 at the instigation of the casino Bénazet, and planted with a wide variety of trees and woody plants. Today the avenue contains about 300 types of native and exotic woody plants, including alders, azaleas, chestnuts, ginkgos, limes, magnolias, maples, oaks, and sycamores. The avenue terminates at its northwest end in a kurgarten, and at the southeast in a dahlia garden containing busts of Clara Schumann, Johannes Brahms, and Robert Stolz.

The Black Forest is a large forested mountain range in the state of Baden-Württemberg in south-west of Germany.
It is bounded by the Rhine valley to the west and south.
Its highest peak is the Feldberg with an elevation of 1,493 metres.
The region is roughly oblong in shape with a length of 160 kilometres and breadth of up to 50 kilometres.
The main industry of the Black Forest is tourism. Black Forest Tourism assesses that there are around 140,000 direct full-time jobs in the tourist sector and around 34.8 million tourist overnight stays in 2009.
In spring, summer and autumn an extensive network of hiking trails and mountain bike routes enable different groups of people to use the natural region.
In winter, of course, it is the various types of winter sport that come to the fore.
There are facilities for both downhill and Nordic skiing in many places.
The most heavily frequented tourist destinations and resorts in the Black Forest are the Titisee and the Schluchsee.
Both lakes offer opportunities for water sports like diving and windsurfing.
From Freiburg these lakes may be reached on the B 31 through the Höllental, via the Hirschsprung monument located at the narrowest point in the valley, and the Oswald Chapel below the Ravenna Gorge.
One oft-visited town is Baden-Baden with its thermal baths and festival hall.
Other thermal baths are found in the spa resorts of Badenweiler, Bad Herrenalb, Bad Wildbad, Bad Krozingen, Bad Liebenzell and Bad Bellingen.
Noted for their fine interiors are the former monastery of St. Blasien as well as the abbeys of Sankt Trudpert, St. Peter and St. Märgen.
Alpirsbach Abbey and the ruined Hirsau Abbey were built of red sandstone in the Hirsau style.
The Murg valley, the Kinzig valley, the Triberg Waterfalls and the Open Air Museum at Vogtsbauernhof are also very popular.
There are well known winter sports areas around the Feldberg, near Todtnau with its FIS downhill ski run of Fahler Loch and in Hinterzarten, a centre and talent forge for German ski jumpers.
In the Northern Black Forest the winter sports areas are concentrated along the Black Forest High Road and on the ridge between the Murg and Enz rivers around Kaltenbronn.
The height differences in the mountains are used in many places for hang gliding and paragliding.

Schwarzwald, or in English The Black Forest is located in the southwest corner of Germany in the German federal-state of Baden-Württemberg. The Black Forest is a mountainous terrain at about 200-1500 meters above sea level, the highest point being the Feldberg at 1493 m.

Winter Wonderland in Titisee / Travel Diary

Seeing Titisee in winter was something special, lake was frozen and everything around it was coverd in snow. It looked like we were in winter wonderland. So here is a little travel diary from this one day trip. Hope you enjoy :)

Romantic Road, Germany

Moselkern, Germany - Moselle River small-town charm, with Farmers & Handicrafts Market

We had just spent a half-day touring the magnificent Burg Eltz; we decided to take the scenic walk back down into the valley below. Though we tried to get there in time for the next train back to Koblenz, we missed by about 5 minutes.

It gave us ample time to explore the hidden charms of this quaint little village/town along the Moselle River. One of the delightful surprises was stumbling upon an annual festival held here. The festival is called Bauern und Handwerkermarkt (Farmers & Handicrafts Market). Handicrafts and other farm-related displays, such as new tractors, etc. We had a nice local cake and coffee, then continued on with touring the rest of this charming place. It's funny how sometimes you find yourself having unexpected fun in unexpected places. Moselkern is definitely a little gem in the Moselle River Valley.

Wir starten unseren Rundgang vor dem Gasthof Alpsee in Bühl am Großen Alpsee bei Immenstadt. Wir gehen durch die Seestraße vor bis zur Seepromenade and hinüber zur Minigolfanlage. Anschließend geht es über die Kirchsteige hinauf zur Pfarrkirche St. Stephan und dann hinunter in die Gruft der Grabeskirche.

We walk through Bühl at the great lake of the alps (Großer Alpsee) nearby to Immenstadt in Bavaria in south Germany at the German Alps.
