It is overlooking Payangadi town on the northern bank of Kuppam river. It is popular being the site of the Madayi Kavu of Goddess Kali, Shakthi, the Vadukunnu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Shiva temple of Madayipara was razed by followers of Tippu Sultan in the 18th century. However, now it has been rebuilt.
