SPLIT CROATIA: Plitvice Lakes & Klis Castle
When in Croatia, you might as well look for Daenerys dragons. After an incredible day at Plitvice Lakes, the Diemers continue their March south and make a stop in Split.
Between stuffing kabobs in their gobs, they make time to visit nerd dream destinations such as Fortress Klis and Diocletian's palace. While they don't find any dragons, they do learn that the palace is really just kind of a sewer, but all the sewage is long gone (which is nice).
At Fortress Klis they find other tourists in search of their own Khaleesis. While the Unburnt, Breaker of Chains, Mother of Dragons is nowhere to be found, Fortress Klis is the ultimate self guided castle experience.
Tripped is a peek into our one year, round the world journey where we ungraciously shoved cameras in each others faces the entire time. We wanted to record the good, the bad, and the reality of travel. What did we discover? High highs and low lows.
For every white sand beach, there was a tour hawker screaming at you to buy a whale shark tour.
For every sunset over the mountains, a cloud of sandfly vampires with bloodlust in their hearts.
There are experiences so crazy beautiful that a heavily filtered pic from Instagram would never do it justice.
There are also experiences out there that are just crazy. Or scary. Or that you walk away from thinking “I hope I never do this specific thing in my life again”.
Episode format? Fast and furious, but with less Diesel. Could be 5 minutes, could be 15. Expect chuckles and adventure every week via slick edited and colorful commentary.

Klis Fortress & A Game of Thrones Tour in Split, Croatia
With so many things to do in Split, Croatia, and tourism attractions like Diocletian's Palace to visit, our travel holiday was packed with adventure. But with the recent filming of Season 4 of HBO's Game of Thrones in the Split area, we decided to embark on a Game of Thrones tour to see a few of the filming locations.
Klis Fortress, a 13th century watermill, and portions of Diocletian's Palace were all shooting sites. We even had a chance to feast on delicious, traditional Croatian food and wine. This was definitely an adventure worth taking.

BEST VIEWS of SPLIT! MOSOR HIKE, CROATIA
We had such a great time hiking in the Mosor mountains to get the best views of Split. There’s a cute little mountain lodge called Umberto Girometta right in the middle of a forest where hikers can get lunch on the weekends. We stopped there to have some traditional ‘pašta fažol’ and recharge for the rest of our hike. There were donkeys, beautiful views and even some snow up in the mountains! Top best places to visit in Split, Croatia
Split is the second largest city of Croatia and the largest city of the region of Dalmatia.
It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea and because of its ideal climate, with a lot of sun each year, locals often nicknamed their city as the “Mediterranean Flower”.
Split is built around the Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian and wandering the historic center you can still clearly see the Roman temples, squares, streets, gates and walls.
On the main square stands a building, originally built around year 300 as a mausoleum for the Roman emperor Diocletian, the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, the oldest cathedral building in the world.
There are four entrances to the Palace:
Through the monumental, eastern Silver Gate.
Through the western Iron Gate with the old city clock counting 24 digits. Outside this gate is located the Old Town Hall and the People’s Square, the central venue of the city’s social life.
The Golden Gate, the northern entrance, is a favorite tourist spot, together with the nearby grandiose statue of the Gregory of Nin.
The southern Brass Gate is modest in size but also the “main” gate as the tourists pass through it most frequently coming and going on the Riva, the main city promenade.
At the other end of the Riva promenade is situated a beautiful venetian plaza, the Republic Square.
Split is an oasis for those who look for a natural stress relief.
On Marian Hill there is a big forest park with wonderful panoramic views.
Around the park are many perfect places to swim, like the Kasjuni Beach.
Or, favorites among locals, the beautiful pine forest Bene Beach.
Split has many museums worth a visit, such as:
The Archaeological Museum, the oldest museum in Croatia.
The Museum of Fine Arts, which contains works from the 14th century up to the present day.
The Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments that presents cultural artifacts of the Croats in the Middle Ages.
The Mestrovic Gallery, an art museum dedicated to the work of the sculptor, Ivan Meštrović.
The city is a home for one of the biggest and oldest theaters in Croatia, the National Theater.
In Split you can not miss the multi-use stadium as it is one of the sportiest cities in the world.
Just outside the city are the ruins of Salona one of the biggest towns of the Roman Empire.
It has a very well preserved basilica, cemetery, amphitheater and many other Roman buildings.
About 10 km from Split there is the Klis Fortress, a medieval stronghold with fascinating history and an incredible view.

LOST AUDIO ON THE BEST DAY IN CROATIA
This was our favourite day in Croatia and halfway through we realized our mic wasn’t even working! It was so frustrating since we were really excited to share the day with you all but we were determined to put together a video about our road trip. We rented a car with our amazing friends and had a fun-filled day visiting Zadar in the morning before seeing Krka National Park and enjoying a great peka meal to end the adventure.

Starting Our Croatian Road Trip - Europe Trip 2015
This is the start to our road trip in Croatia. We just left Dubrovnik and our first stop was Split, followed by Klis, and ending up in Trogir. Here's what I saw.
