Kortrijk is a Belgian city and municipality in the Flemish province of West Flanders. It is the capital and largest city of the judicial and administrative arrondissement of Kortrijk. The wider municipality comprises the city of Kortrijk proper and the villages of Aalbeke, Bellegem, Bissegem, Heule, Kooigem, Marke, and Rollegem. Kortrijk is also part of the cross-border Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai metropolitan area.The city is on the river Leie, 42 km southwest of Ghent and 25 km northeast of Lille. Guldensporen Stadion is a multi-use stadium in Kortrijk, Belgium. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of K.V. Kortrijk. In the summer of 2008, following the promotion of KV Kortrijk to the Belgian First Division, the capacity of the stadium was increased from 6,896 to around 9,399 The name Guldensporenstadion means Stadium of the Golden Spurs, a reference to the medieval Battle of the Golden Spurs, fought in Kortrijk in 1302.

EUROPE 2018 | Brussels & Leuven | Belgium Travel Vlog

Today we head to Belgium! Our 7th & 8th cities and 3rd country of our trip.

We didn't really know what to expect in Brussels. We had a long list of foods we wanted to eat, but not many sights we needed to see. So we just winged it and it turned out to be a great day! Saw a lot of the main sights, walked around the city, ate fries and waffles, and enjoyed some Belgian beer. After touring Brussels, we took a train to Leuven, a smaller city to the east of Brussels to visit a friend!

Belgium: Kortrijk - Courtrai - Courtray

Kortrijk or Courtrai is a Belgian city and municipality located in the Flemish province West Flanders.
The city is situated on the Leie, 42 km (26 mi) southwest of Ghent and 25 km (16 mi) northeast of Lille in France.
Throughout the 19th and 20th century, Kortrijk became a center of the flax industry and remains an important region within the Belgian textile industry today.
Much of the city's medieval architecture remained intact and is remarkably well preserved and restored. The city center is one of the largest carfree areas in Belgium. The béguinage, as well as the belfry, were recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites in 1998 and 1999.
