Kviteseid is a municipality in Telemark county in Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Vest-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Kviteseid. The parish of Hvideseid was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 . Kviteseid Seminar was the first public school which started in 1819 and was in operation until 1889. Kviteseid Library was founded in 1895. The library was first based on a book collection from Kviteseid Seminar. European highway E 134 is a European highway that crosses Norway starting near the city of Haugesund on the west coast, heading over Haukeli, and ending near the city of Drammen, near the national capital of Oslo. With the highest point at 1,085 metres above sea level, the road is sensitive to snow conditions and foul weather during the winter season, during which the mountainous sections may be closed in short periods. The stretch of road through the mountains is called Haukelifjell.

Gaustatoppen is the highest mountain in the county Telemark in Norway which lies in the municipality Tinn and Hjartdal. The view from the summit is impressive, as one can see an area of approximately 60,000 km², one sixth of Norway's mainland. The mountain is popular for downhill skiing in winter, and competitions have been held on its slopes. These competitions include the Norseman triathlon, billed as the world's most brutal iron-distance triathlon. It starts in Eidfjord and finishes at the top of Gaustatoppen. The summit is accessible on foot in the summer, on a rocky pathway of medium difficulty, although the southern side of the mountain is very dangerous and inaccessible. The wreckage of an airplane crash lies there, as it is too difficult to remove it.

Krossobanen is an aerial tramway in Rjukan, Norway, and was the first of its kind in Northern Europe. It was built in 1928 by Bleichert as a gift from Norsk Hydro to the people of Rjukan , offering them a view of the sun which is obscured by the surrounding mountains during the winter months from October to March. The horizontal distance between the lower and the upper station is 814 meters and the difference in altitude is 495 meters, which yields an average incline of 0.6: 1 .

Vrådal, formerly spelled Wraadahl, is a village in Kviteseid municipality, Norway. The village had a population of 220 as of 1 January 2009. The centre of the village is at Eidstod, which lies at the eastern end of the Vråvatn lake, where it flows into lake Nisser. The economy is based on tourism (hotels, camping and a ski-centre), light industry, and small-scale logging.

The name probably derives from the old Norse «vrá/ró» which means step, probably used to refer to farms which lay a little remotely - but it could also come from the fact that the valley is curved or stepped.

The village has a long-church built in 1866, Vrådal kirke.
