Langesund is the administrative centre of the municipality of Bamble, Norway. The town of Langesund was established as a municipality 1 January 1838 . It was merged with Bamble 1 January 1964. In the early days, Langesund was one of the most important shipping towns in Norway. Peter Wessel Tordenskiold got one of his ships built in Langesund, Løvendals Gallej. It is possible to visit the remains of the old Coastal Fortress on Langesundstangen on the extreme end of the Langesund peninsula. For a short break, I headed across to Stavanger in Norway, a great small city on the east of the country which acts as a great gateway to the fjords. Highlights include the array of museums, Scandinavian design stores and the famous Preikestolen, also known as 'Pulpit Rock'.

After a wonderful overnight stay in Apartment Solliveien in Kristiansand we got up early and drove to the harbor to sail to Hirtshals on the SuperSpeed1. a great ship with everything on board. 3 restaurants. a bar. a rest room with lovely sitting / reclining chairs. with a lot of sitting, places further on the ship. And 71 cabins that are actually only for truck drivers. In this road trip we drive 1106 kilometers home in 13 hours and 45 minutes.
