Top ten attractions you don't want to miss at Myakka River State Park. Located in Sarasota, Florida just an hour Southeast of Tampa is one of is one of Florida's oldest and largest state parks.
In episode four of a five-part series, we begin counting down the park's top ten hiking attractions. Although Florida is known for amazing sunrise and sunsets over pristine beaches, witnessing the timeless beauty of a new day dawning or coming to a close from a majestic wilderness area can't beat.
Episode four takes to the north end of the park, where the rentals are for bikes, kayaks, canoes and more. You can book a Pontoon boat ride to see wildlife and more gators.
Coming in at #3 is the bike, kayak, and canoe rentals. Say hi to Jessica for us, she works at the Myakka Outpost!
Canoeing and kayaking offer a different adventure depending on the time of year in recent rainfall. In October we were able to walk to and Photograph wildlife on the ware, but in January, which is typically a drier time, we were able to paddle right out on top of the Weir for a closer look at the wildlife. Bike riding and kayaking are great ways to explore Florida's wilderness areas and Myakka River State Park. Don't worry if you don't have your own equipment. Can use kayaks and bicycles can all be rented on the Myakka Outpost. They even have tandem bicycles for couples.
The park offers over 6 miles of paved roads to explore and many more off Road miles for the mountain bike enthusiasts.
The North Drive is less frequently traveled and offers and offers an even more tranquil experience, that can be had on Park Drive.
Not everyone will be able or interested in accessing remote areas of the park from a kayak or canoe.
#4 is Myakka River Queen
A pontoon boat nature tour on Upper Myakka Lake takes the #4 spot in our countdown.
Not everyone will be able or interested in accessing remote areas of the park from a kayak or canoe. If this describes you, no worries, there’s another option.
A guided nature tour from a pontoon boat will take you deep into the wilderness while providing an interesting education on the park’s flora and fauna.
The hour-long boat ride will take you across Upper Myakka Lake where you’ll find the shoreline teaming with wildlife.
