Lerna is a village in Coles County, Illinois, United States. The population was 286 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Charleston–Mattoon Micropolitan Statistical Area. Thomas Lincoln, father of President Abraham Lincoln, spent the later part of his life on a homestead a few miles away, preserved today as the Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site. Thomas Lincoln and his second wife Sarah Bush Lincoln are buried in Shiloh Cemetery south of town.

The Robert Allerton Park is a 1,517-acre park, nature center, and conference center located in the rural Piatt County township of Willow Branch, near Monticello, Illinois on the upper Sangamon River. The park and manor house, The Farms, are attributed to owner Robert Allerton, industrialist heir, artist, art collector and garden designer. Robert donated the complex to the University of Illinois in 1946.The National Park Service registered the Robert Allerton Estate as a National Historic Place on July 18, 2007. The Allerton Natural Area within the park was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1970.As of 2007, the park was used by approximately 100,000 visitors per year. Rare Mystery coke ovens Allegheny County Pittsburgh PA

Only known coke oven ruins in allegheny county. Located off 5th Ave N Versailles/East Mckeesport these only come out when the leaves drop. Do not know their history, but very few coke oven operations existed in Allegheny county. Ironically, the main modern coke operations are in fact in Clairton, Allegheny county!
