Leysin is a municipality of the canton of Vaud in the Aigle district of Switzerland. It is first mentioned around 1231–32 as Leissins, in 1352 as Leisins.Located in the Vaudoises Alps, Leysin is a sunny alpine resort village at the eastern end of Lake Geneva in proximity to Montreux, Lausanne, and Geneva. In prior years, Leysin was known for its sanatoriums for tuberculosis; today its spectacular Alpine views across the Rhône Valley towards the Dents du Midi invite year-round mountain sports and recreation. The village of Leysin and hamlet of Veyges are designated as part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.

Leysin, apart for being a very famous ski centre, is quickly earning a reputation as the college center of Switzerland, as it is the home of five international schools.

Watch us lift all the way up the Berneuse Cable-Car and enjoy the spectacular views of the plain of the Rhone which extends all to way to Lake Geneva (Lac Leman).

Finally we indulge in some fine wining and dining at Kuklos, a glass revolving restaurant on the Berneuse (2048 metres above sea level) with 360° panorama view of the Valais mountains.

We got an opportunity to visit San Francisco to have my son represent Team Canada in World Math Olympiad at Stanford University. The competition itself was for just one day but we took two epic routes to spice up the trip to cover the best of the bay area and mountain routes. This was truly a nature’s paradise. I hope you will like it as well.

Here's a short trip we made by car from Lausanne to Leysin, a swiss ski resort. In summer, it's a nice place to go hiking, and that was a good opportunity to test the video of the panasonic lumix FT-1 cam.

Here, the camera is mounted on the rearview mirror using a gorilla tripod, which helps a lot!
