Hi friends. This video about Latvia. See more on same playlist.
Liepāja is a city in western Latvia, located on the Baltic Sea. It is the largest city in the Kurzeme Region and the third largest city in the country after Riga and Daugavpils. It is an important ice-free port. In 2017 population of Liepāja is 69,443 people.
In the 19th and early 20th century it was a favourite place for sea-bathers with the town boasting a fine park and many pretty gardens, and a theatre. Liepāja is however known throughout Latvia as City where the wind is born, likely because of the constant sea breeze. A song of the same name (Latvian: Pilsētā, kurā piedzimst vējš) was composed by Imants Kalniņš and has become the anthem of the city. Its reputation as the windiest city in Latvia was strengthened with the construction of the largest wind farm in the nation (33 Enercon wind turbines) nearby.

Gaujas (Latvia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Guajas in Latvia.
The picturesque and primordial river valley of Gauja lies within the heart of Latvia and has for centuries attracted travellers from each corner of the world. This ‘Livonian Switzerland’ not only possesses the charm of primary nature but also all of the ambience of a mysterious past. From 1878 the new Sigulda Castle was built for Russian prince, Cropotkin, on the site of the outer bailey of an Order castle. Sigulda Castle was built by the Order Of The Brothers Of The Sword but, following union with the Teutonic Order, passed over to the Livonians. Cesis is located in the middle of the Highlands and is one of the oldest and most splendid towns in the country. Saint John‘s Church is also the country’s oldest basilica. It is the largest Gothic church outside Riga and was founded in 1282 as the main church of the Brothers Of The Sword. From 1778 the ‘New Castle’ was inhabited by the noble Von Silvers Family and today the Museum Of History And Art is housed there. Since the thirteenth century, the mediaeval castle has shared its fate together with the city in fighting against Russian, Polish and Swedish armies. Despite much damage, today the ruins are still impressive and is where unique nature combines with atmospheric historic buildings.

Liepāja In Your Pocket - Liepāja, Latvia Highlights
In Your Pocket editor Martins Zaprauskis visits Liepaja, Latvia's third largest city. It is located in the far southwest corner of Latvia on the Baltic coast only 100km from Klaipeda in Lithuania. Straddling a narrow strip of land between the sea and a lake, it began as a humble fishing village, eventually becoming a major trading port under the leadership of Jacob (or James) Kettler (1610 - 1681), Duke of Courland and godson of England's King James I. The burgeoning city suffered heavily during the Great Northern War when the population was decimated by an outbreak of the plague in 1710. The city only regained its importance as a port and mercantile centre in the 19th century as a part of the Russian empire. Its significance was further buoyed by the creation of the Naval Port from 1890 -- 1904 when it was home to the first Baltic fleet of Russian submarines.
Boutique hotels have become the standard, not the exception, in a city where nearly every guesthouse, hotel and hostel provides completely renovated rooms with interesting interior design. Whether it's white sandy beaches and the sea you're after, culture and centuries-old architecture, or extreme sports and even extremer nightlife, Latvia's hippest city has it all.
